Default ThreadArt threads arrived ... wow and a question

Last week in a post, someone mentioned that ThreadArt.com had a sale on threads ... yup I bought some, they arrived yesterday and wow, so far LOVE them! I got a grab bag of 15 cones cotton thread, grab bag of 20 cones rayon thread, set of color twist poly thread, 15 variegated cotton spools and a large black and some more white to round out my supply. My thread drawers are overflowing

Oh my can't wait to do some thread painting with these threads, the colors are wonderful. Of course the cottons will be used for quilting and piecing, but I think the rayons and polys will be used for applique or embellishing.

Question for you ... how do you use poly threads and rayon threads?

Poly threads can be used for quilting. Rayon threads should be for embroidery only; not strong enough for quilting or piecing. I prefer cotton for piecing.

Rayon is pretty well not good for anything. Those of us who do machine embroidery like the sheen of the rayon but is not durable over time.

Rayon thread can be used to thread paint or quilt a wallhanging. It doesn't stand up to general quilt use due to washing and people sitting on it can break it. I used a beautiful gold rayon to quilt my Christmas Twister Wreath.
