Threads from pre-washing driving me crazy!

I fold my fabrics into fat quarter size and use safety pins to secure all but the fold side - 3-4 pins per side. Seems like a pain, but it really cuts down on the threads AND ironing! Plus, when I go to put them away, the folding is super easy too since it is all almost done.

I keep a pair of scissors on the dryer so I can trim those tangled threads before tossing in the dryer. I just deal with it. Doesn't really bother me all that much. I'm more concerned that I get all the excess dye out of the fabric.

Trina, I do as you do prewash to remove chemicals and to take the shinkage out. I also tried clipping the corners... didn't work for me either.
My solution: I keep a pair of scissors by my washing machine and cut strings before putting in dryer. It's faster than pinking the edges or anything else. Just comes with the territory. I usually just put a smile on and deal with it.

QuiltswithConvicts: we must think alike. Didn't read your post till after I posted mine. Great minds think alike, isn't that what they say? LOL

I, like Farm Quilter, use safety pins on the ends. Have very little fraying. I also fold & pin my yardage fabrics so they don't get all twisted together. It also helps with wrinkles & ironing is much easier.
