throw size?
I have hit upon an excellent solution for me. I can donate my scrap quilts to an organization that prefers throw size. Since it's for chimps, I can also practice my free motion quilting without worrying that it's too ugly to donate. Perfect. However, when I googled throw size, I got answers anywhere from 45x60 to 60x75. Is there any consensus here as to the perfect throw size?

There isn't any precise size for lap quilts. You might check with the organization and see if they can give you a more exact size. What a wonderful ideal to make quilts for chimps. I make beds for the local animal shelter for the cats. I make lap size quilts for foster kids and the size requirements are minimum size of 50"x60". This is a great way of practicing your FMQ because the animals never complain about the quilting!

Since you are targeting a specific organization, I would contact them. Many charities have preferred sizes & other requirements. As you read online, the size of a throw is in the mind of the creator. A charity I have made tops for wanted them 40" wide so they could use regular fabric for backing.
