All I know is at guild the ones that had a Tin Lizzy say do not get one. The customer service is horrible. It's cheaply made and will cause more frustration then fun.

A friend of mine had a Tin Lizzie and said for her it was too heavy to move around on the frame. She was a frail little gal so that may have been some of the problem.

Tin Lizzie went out of business. Pretty soon the parts will be difficult to find. If you want a pre-owned machine, it might be best to purchase a machine made by a manufacturer that is still in business and able to provide customer support & replacement parts. Unless, of course it is an amazing deal; and if the machine breaks, you wouldn’t mind treating the machine as disposable.

Interesting looking at the new site. The don’t picture an entire machine, but what they do show looks like the original. The frame is the same as mine.

I will say, I would love an Innova or Gammil, but at 3x to 4x what I paid for my Tin Lizzie, I could not afford one without starting a long arming business. For a home hobbiest, there is no shame in buying a Ford instead of a Lexus.

Or a Chevy or a Kia or a Nissan.... Plenty of machines other than Tin Lizzie out there in that price range. I think that's what most of us are saying.

My cousin and her SIL both had Tin Lizzie machines and both had lots of problems. They have since traded them in and both are much happier. I have no specifics of what problems they had. Also an OSMG recommended I stay away from that brand when I first started mid-arm shopping.

I’ve had a Tin Lizzie for approx. 8 years. I have quilted over 200 kids throws and at least 25 queen size quilts and never had a problem and have used several kinds of thread.

I had a HV Mega Quilter 18 made by Tin Lizzie, no computer, just the basics. It spent more time at the factory being repaired than I had it. It would be gone for 3 months each time, 3 times. All the electronics had been replaced during these visits to the factory. The 4th time it went because of a serious vibration, it came back after 2 weeks saying there was nothing wrong with it. It vibrated so bad my hands would go numb. I finally sold it for the price of the Grace frame, and now own a Handi Quilter Avante. The old adage "you get what you pay for" was very true in this instance.

My first long arm was a Tin Lizzie. Only had it 10 months and had to replace two stitch encoders and the main circuit board in that time. I sold it and bought an APQS that I have had No problems with in the 8 years I have had it. I would never recommend a Tin Lizzie to anyone.
