Is it better that the Color Catchers?
Personally I have never use Color Catchers because vinegar is cheaper and has ALWAYS worked great for me!

I've used it on red and white fabrics (yes together) and they came out beautifully when washed with vinegar.

It's the washing that's getting rid of the excess dye, not the vinegar.

Yes, you can still find multiple sites on the internet that claim that vinegar works. It's an old wive's tale!

This reminds me of a story that Bob of Superior Threads tells, which can be found here: http://www.superiorthreads.com/educa...dition-or-myth

Just because it's always been done that way doesn't mean it's effective.

No better or worse than in the old style washers, which is not at all as far as fabric bleeding goes.
