My vote is no sashing. Yes, the quilt is busy, but there are enough solids or solid reading fabrics to take care of that. For the outside, I would add the first small border, but not black. Someone suggested neutral, or a nice brick red would set it off, too. The wine bottles are great where they are, and the outside border is fine, too. I love it.

I love the 2nd border idea - it's really great. In fact I love your quilt! I think some of the others suggest adding sashing and I think that would make the blocks pop. Great job.

I agree, the solid border would frame it nicely and the print border would stand out. Neat!!

I like the second border also, but sashing would make it easier on the eyes. Great quilt and the person who receives it will definitely love it.

It's pretty busy, but your solids give the eye a place to rest, so I think it works. You could, however, sash each block with an identical solid (black, perhaps, or a lovely red) and that would tone it down. I like the second photo border....and again, you could insert a narrow solid border before the wide wine bottles, if you wanted.

I love your prints! My son is a wine head, too, and would love this quilt!

I like your quilt as it is, your use of solid colors randomly gives plenty I of places for the eye to take a break. I like the double border best. Your quilt is very nice and definately shows his love of wine.

I like the second one best and men are not as picky as women.......so I bet your brother will love it. It will have lots of meaning to him because it was made by you.

I like your quilt, the solid fabrics give the eye a place to rest. I like the 2nd border best of all.

I totally agree with GingerK & I just love your quilt just a lot going on & I think the sashing will be just what it needs. A solid colour & doesn't have to be wide. Make sure you show us the finished quilt. Your brother is going to love this.
