Is it too late to add cornerstones?

A beginner?? My foot! You have created a beautiful quilt and done it with expertise. I would not add cornerstones. Maybe, if you are dissatisfied, I could suggest adding a small sash all around the outside of quilt in that deep purple and then bind with deep purple. That would tie everything together.

My daughter has often persuaded me that if I go back to "fix" something on a quilt top, I am more likely to ruin it. Sometimes I don't listen, but 99.9 percent of the time she has been right and in the "fix" at least damaged it. Your quilt is lovely. Don't risk ruining it. froggyintexas

Beautiful job, by the way. and remember that you don't have to always do it just as the book says. As you quilt more you'll see things that you like better (or less) than what the book calls for and it's OK to make those changes. for example, if you like the look you have here - leave the setting stones out.

You can add Cornerstones by using the Applique method. Do not take your fine work apart. Cut tiny squares with quarter-inch seams, which fit perfectly into your intersections. Then, turn under the seams, and hand-stitch them in place. Personally, I would not attempt to machine stitch them, as it would be tedious and boring for me, trying to wad and twist a big quilt up under my sewing machine. Applique is the Way! Good luck, and enjoy whatever you do.

Okay as a designer you just Morphed that quilt into your own! As others have said it looks Great just the way it is. Why mess with it! Try cornerstones on another quilt. This top is perfect just the way it is! JMHO ( just my humble opinion)!
