AH HA! I'm not the only one with a well organized, over-sized stash!! On my other thread, about "Another way to store fabric," I was beginning to feel guilty about having so much fabric ... not really but.... KNEW I wasn't the only one and, by far, not the one with the most.

There are many secret stashers on this Board!! Confess, confess!

That is the most organized I've seen outside of a quilt store!! I'm jealous! I just moved back to the states this year, so I am still trying to organize my "space" - which is considerable less than I had before! I have so many great ideas now thanks to this site!! I don't know whether I am more jealous of the organization, or the actual stash! Both I guess!

I'd be happy to send my addy for when I'm listed in your estate. :)

I have a small stash but still more than I'm using right now.

I haven't been quilting for very long so can't relate to all the stashes. I will probably never get loaded up w/fabric since, as of now, I only buy for a specific quilt and I have no room to even think of storing the fabric. My financial background always creeps up too....so much $$ invested and waiting to be used. Only my opinion......

Oh how I wish I had that stash..or maybe even part of it. Just starting so I guess it will take awhile to get a good stash.

    Love the cartoon!
but I make alot of scrap quilts very few are planned.
and they are planned with what I have.
I have never went and purchased fabric for a certain quilt!
But I currently have several thousand yards.
I buy what I like when I can..which is all the time thanks to online shopping!
I don't drive- never have! So if I go to a fabric store hubby takes me, this really limits shopping!

Misty - In the picture with your fat quarters - is that foamcore that you used to make the smaller 'bolts'? I have seen the premade plastic ones and LOVE the idea but don't love the prices. I was thinking about using foamcore but it is great to see it. Guess that is my next step.

I understand you're opinion and, in some ways, you're quite right. Personally, I think it comes down to a number of factors, one of which is personality type. My stash gives me a certain degree of comfort, knowing it's there. I've gone through some very very lean times (which a number of the Board members have/are experiencing) and my stash is my fall back if things get tight again.

Plus, I don't know how old you are but things accumulate (for some of us, anyways) as you get older. My stash represents 15+ years of collecting and not having time to be very productive because I've always had to work full-time.

Please don't get me wrong, no offense was taken. Your point is a good one. In this case, it doesn't fit me.
