Usually when this happens to me (I have a Pfaff Grandquilter, 9" throat, on an Inspira frame) it is because I have the take-up roller too high above the sewing machine base.

Try different thread, my old machine wouldn't sew with one brand. Check the throat plate for a little burr. I have had good luck with a denim needle.

Thanks for the suggestions, hopefully one of them will work. As for needles I've tried Schmetz 110/18, 90/14 quilting 80/12 topstitch and Superior Titanium 110/16 & 90/14.

Hello, Please clarify: spacing incorrect for the sandwich and machine bed. The sandwich is skimming the machine bed, not really any daylight between the two. As for too tight - do you mean the clamps on the edges (not on the rollers)? Thanks for your help!
