Tying quilts is an old method of quilting that has been around for years. Growing up, that is all that I can remember having on our beds. However, most of them were made out of flannel and no batting was used. Even in your older quilts, after many washings, the cotton batting bunched up and made hard lumps in the quilts. Quilting with a needle and thread stopped a lot of that. Along with the poly batting. Your quilt should be just fine. Be sure and post when done.

I prefer tying flannel quilts-they feel both softer and warmer to me that way.

I tie all of mine unless they are something spectacular and then I do large hand quilting. Just can't fork out the money to send out . I call them quilts ! When my kids were little I would catch them working like it was their jobs to untie them . It is funny now but wasn't then

I would love to try tying a quilt. Think I will. I don't think that would work on younger ones like 2 and under, but for older children and adults, Go for it.

I would love to know the name of this book when you get back home. I tied quilts before I knew how to quilt.

I have tied many quilts, many were denim, double knit, or heavy flannel. They were utility quilts meant to be used daily and at least one has lasted over 50 years! Don't be afraid to tie a quilt. Crochet thread, baby yarn, grocer's string, are all suitable for tying.

I tied my first two quilts and love them. There is a time for each method.

I would like to know the name of this book too. I have tied quilts my mom made and I slept under one last night. I feel it is a hug from her since she is no longer with us.
