I bought a great machine 4 months ago. It's a basic Pfaff , no electronics. But now I want more. The dealer said I can trade it in for about what I paid. Is this typical? I assume the dealer gets lots of sales doing this.

Actually, I don't know if this is typical or not. I'm not sure if my dealer would be so generous!

if you are trading up to a more expensive machine yes, although I would ask specifically how much he is going to give you when you trade up

I have done this, the dealer will typically give you trade in value what you paid for the machine new in a specific time frame. It is a good way to upgrade to the machine you need.

(But first I would try to deal for the new machine without trade-in to see what his bottom line is. They typically take the trade in value off the full retail price, which is more than they would take for the machine without trade-in.)

Good luck! I love my Pfaff for piecing because of the built-in "walking foot"!!!

My pfaff dealer will give you back what you bought it for (or close to it)if you trade up in a specified amount of time... a year sticks in my head. They have the ones with the larger throats now...I think I'd go for one of those!!!

I bought Pfaff about 4 years ago now and they told me that if I trade up, within a year, I get the full value toward the trade-in. It sounds like something Pfaff might help them offer.
