I look at Google Images to see if I like one layout more than another.
I believe "traditional" is one side of the block is light and the other dark.

I think it's the traditional log cabin. The block is done half light/half dark and you decide which layout you want once your blocks are done. I did one for my sister in black and white with a teal star where the blocks meet. She still uses it.

It looks like the tradition log cabin to me. The block is traditional. The key is where to place your light and dark fabric & which way to turn the block when assembling your quilt top. This is one block that can make all sorts of different patterns, which is why it has remained so popular throughout the years.

Patty - Wow! I love your quilt!! What great colors.
Thanks. That was a totally scrappy Log Cabin done with Kansas Troubles fabric.....Love it myself and hate to give it away. I cant wait to see what the LAQ does with it...

Log cabins are so much fun. Because they can go together so many different ways.

Up North - that is gorgeous. I can't wait to see a picture of the entire quilt once you finish it. I bet DS and DDIL are going to love it!
