    Like Tartan, I used the chalkboard chalk and use an unused makeup brush. Also I've used the thick mascara(unused/ wide)brushes. unused sponge paintbrushes also work.

    Soap slivers. I marked a scalloped border on a black quilt and it worked great. And no fear or testing to see if it will wash out after.
