Default Trying to finish a quilt

I have the Viking Designer Se Emb. Machine with the 4D Extra software I had a computer crash and had to replace my old computer w/window 7, I now have new computer w/window 8 and having a lot of trouble re-downloading my software I'm told it's not compatible with window 8, is anyone else with this machine and software having these issues? Is this software now just a loss cause, any information or suggestions would be very much appreciated. H-E-L-P

I have mine running on a small notebook computer with XP because of this issue. I did see this post on facebook, however, looks like there may be a way:

did you try contacting your machine dealer? maybe they have a patch or upgrade to fix the issue.

Most operating system software is 'backwards compatible' with older programs. I would probably contact Viking and see what they have to say before contacting machine dealer. You might get better support from Viking, particularly if you got your new computer from the typical 'big box' store. I've not been particularly overwhelmed by the big box support groups.

If the other suggestion fail, have you thought of going into the Geek Squad at Best Buy and see if you can reinstall Window 7 on your new computer?? Just a thought.
