Trying not to buy

Last Saturday I went to my LQS, I bought a Squedge ruler and a Calico Carriage Quilt Design. It has been quite some time since my last visit and I love to see new rulers and patterns. I don't need any more fabric! What I need is a sewing studio so that all my sewing machines, patterns, rulers and fabric have a building to call their own. But, since I haven't won the lottery, I will make do.

This has been my year of not buying! I haven't worked in 2 years so I just didn't want to spend money on fabric I didn't NEED. I did buy a little that I needed to complete a project, but I think I made it through pretty well, holding back. This calls for a shopping trip I think! (just kidding)

I did order some much needed black variation fabrics and a Christmas fabric from Thousands of Bolts that will be here Thursday. I only purchase replacement fabric or required fabric for each project. Of course, occasionally, I find one I just cannot leave in the store.

I've made so many fabric and Judy Niemeyer pattern purchases in the past few weeks that my head is swimming and my pocket book almost empty...! I could hardly keep up with the tracking numbers. When someone posted on the board or friends sent emails about fabric stores/websites going out of business and batik fabric being on sale at extremely low prices, I knew it was time to SHOP. With the price of fabrics continually rising, I call it "future saving." So - keep on posting those great batik sales! I still (think) need more darks... (or do I????)

I have been pretty disciplined about keeping my stash manageable and I hope to stick to it in the coming year. I have fabric for specific projects but I need to finish them before I add more to my bucket list.
