I just started making a tumbling block quilt for my future niece. I am finding some conflicting information on how to sew the blocks together. Some websites say to start and stop the seams 1/4" from each corner. Other sites say to start 1/4" and sew all the way to the end of the pointy side. Do you have any pointers you could share with me? Thanks!

I have to admit that I have never done one of these quilts but after just watching this video.....I'll try it!

NO set-in seams.....all done by strip piecing!

jenny, try both ways. Either way is fine, it is just personally ease and preference. One thing that I would do though is to put a small dot 1/4 inch away from the corner that fits into the 'y' seam and make sure that dot is in the seam of the previous sewn diamonds. The more you do of this type of piecing the easier it gets so just practice.

it depends which pattern you're using, some don't even have Y seams, some are paper pieced

Kathy - I'm not exactly following a pattern. I am doing the Y seams.
