Just got the latest copy of the Machine Quilting Unlimited magazine and it talked about turning the quilt so the quilting design on the side borders is continuous. Do you do that?

I do all freehand and I do continuous patterns in borders, but I don't turn my quilts to do it. I will practice my design on paper a lot, so that I can do it in different directions.

It is personal preference. I don't turn large quilts either. I tried it, but I just don't like taking it off and putting it back on. I like to try all of the ideas people present, and then choose which work for me.

Yes, I do turn the quilt to do the side borders in a continuous pattern. It's easier for me than doing it bit by bit as you roll and keeps it more even to do it all at once.

i only have to turn the quilt if it is too large or if the design really dictates that to be the only way- normally i quilt the borders a little at a time as i go along.
really depends on the individual project
