Turning SNOW day into a SEW day!
#43
Here in Central Texas, we actually have snowing piling up. I'll bet there is at least 6" of snow on the ground. I suspect all my hisbiscus plants don't make it through the winter even though they are covered. I've been sewing today. Tomorrow I have 2 receiving blankets to hem for my neighbor. Then I have a blankie to make for my new little 23 month-old great nephew Bereket. He is bi-racial and is from Ethiopia and my nephew and his wife have adopted him. His name means "Blessings", and he is a blessing to our family. I look forward to making his blankie.

It has snowed about 10" here in Dallas. Nothing like they have received in the east, but I am hoping we will have a snow day tomorrow. It will actually be an ice day if they let us stay home. I would love to spend the day sewing!

Between last weekends 8" snow and the big snow on Tues/Wed's 10-12" we have enough snow in our part of Jersey to last us for the year, just home Mother Nature thinks so. DH insisted on clearing the cars, walks and driveway with the big snowblower by himself so I didn't complain and headed straight for my sewing machine. Working on 50 red, white and blue log cabin blocks and almost finished. Of course, while snowbound I caught up with the laundry, cleaned so floors, etc., you get the picture.
Saturday is a Pillowcase Sew In at my Guild so I'll be sewing again this week. May in Jersey

Phooey! Our beautiful snow lasted only 24 hrs. or so. We had freezing temps when it was falling but temps in the 40's to 50's by noon the next day. Has it ever happened before that all but one state (Hawaii) had snow at the same time?

When I was a kid growing up in northern Idaho we would get quite a bit of snow. I loved it when it would get a crust on top as I would dig tunnels and walk on top of the snow. When I was a year old, we had a lot of snow. We lived on a farm and had a fence around the house that was about 5 ft high, and the snow covered the fence even after it settled. When it got a crust on it, I could walk all over. Mom said when summer came, I couldn't figure out where that fence came from. Guess I was not a happy camper that I was confined to the yard!! Now I live in rain country and miss the snow(most of the time).
