The Irish Chains quilts are beautiful with bi-color.

Since you don't have (any real) contrast, I'd suggest getting yardage of a multicolor batik that has those shades of purple in it, and 1/3 yard of two more purples to build variety of lights to darks. The other colors in the multi will help make the differences in the purples stand out more, and the other purples would give it more play. Also, the multi batik would let you play with another in it for accents - such as a center square (as in a log cabin, something small that pops), a very narrow inner border (or two) ... something like that.

Rachel, look on the web at Pacific Rim Quilting Co. (www.prqc.com). They have many applique patterns designed specifically for 2 colors of batiks.

Many have commented that you don't have enough contrast, I'm not sure that is true. Can you post photos of the 2 fabrics together? If you can take your photo with a black and white setting you will be able to see how much contrast they really provide.

David, I always like your work. You do a good job.
Rachel, I agree with trying at least a block or two of the Disappearing 4 patch. This web address has a good tutorial with photos of each step. Good luck.

How about introducing one other color like black? I made some snails trail blocks using batiks and blacks for a swap. I liked it so much that I started making some for me.

How about the 10 minute block? If you go to google and type in 10 minute block a quick tutorial comes up, it looks like it would be beautiful done in two colors, you could maybe do one block with a light center and then alternate witha dark center, just a thought
