Two Tape Tips for Hand Quilting
#12
Hi Sandy!
I'm not an expert, but I don't know if I'd recommend the tape for a first quilting project... it may interfere with learning the technique.
Maybe someone with more experience can comment?
Thank you for the welcome!

Hello and welcome from Florida!
Thank you for the tips! It took a long time for me to get used to wearing a thimble and it’s been a while since I’ve done any hand quilting. Did you post your tips on the ‘tips’ thread?

Ah ha, AbbyQuilts! I knew I couldn't be the first to think of this.
I was wondering if this tape could be used in place of a thimble on the needle-pushing finger?

Band aid (Pad facing where the needle will poke) and then white tape over that.

I've used tape and also used liquid band aid. It really helps. Because I don't hand quilt every day, my fingers don't build up calluses so if I hand quilt for more than a few hours, my fingers get sore as well.
I've been using masking tape and other tapes for a long time to help guide my stitches. I have tapes in various widths in my hand quilting bag so I generally can find the width I want. They can be reused several times on the quilt before they loose all their stickiness.
