Ugly colors/motivation

Worst colors: a bilious green, sorta like vomit or sick baby poop ... with some yellow.
I thought it would make a great OBW but couldn't make myself cut into it, let alone sew with it.
It did make a great bowl and my friend absolutely loved it.
Go figure.

Isn't it good that we are all different? If we all like the same fabrics our quilts would all look alike.

Now I am giggling. I would not for love or money make a Dora quilt. (Well maybe...but not willingly). You have totally cheered me up...at least I like the jungle animals I chose. :D

I would not enjoy the olive and mustard colors you're contending with, but at least they are close to the greens and yellows that are common in nature. Maybe you could think of them as parts of trees and other plants and find some fabrics with animal characters that would coordinate with the "jungle" colors? That way a little sky blue could be justified, too.
My own least liked colors are the dusty rose/mauve and grayed out orange and blue that were popular in the 1980's. I've just about purged those from my stash because every time I used one in a quilt I regretted it.

Can you maybe use colors that would go with but not be as displeasing to you? Perhaps browns & creams would go well or something like that? Even a tree has a brown trunk, & maybe a light yellow or cream the other end of their spectrum.

Well, I know what it's like to sew something you hate, but I would love olive and mustard yellow! A lot of the things that are so popular these days I hate though. I can't stand batiks, for instance, or novelty prints, or some of the patterns that are written about a lot on here, like D9P, so to each their own. Bottom line, do whatever you want for the baby quilt. There's no reason you have to stick to the parent's color scheme.
