Why not try contrasting colors - look on your color wheel for the opposite to the olive green and mustard yellow - maybe the quilt can be the accent to the room - a splash of fun!
I asked my mom one time only to pick the colors for a quilt - I got stuck with navy blue and burnt orange - the final out come was much better then I expected but was it a chore to work on! I muttered to myself though the entire project! Now when I am starting a quilt for some one I bring fabric samples for them to chose from.

I'd make a quilt to be used! No matter the room colors. I make the quilts to be used, loved, and drug around. Kids need something to comfort them someplace else than their room! :)

I just finished a quilt as a wedding gift that just HAD to be Fuschia and Canary Yellow. Then the groom's mother called as asked if I could incorporate Camoflauge material into it. I did a circle of 9 with 8 pointed stars for the center and the connectors in her fuschia and yellow. Turned out really well, surprisingly. So I added the Camo on the back to make it a reversable quilt. Hope they are happy. It really does glow in the dark.

    Oh WOW.

    It glows in the dark.

and there is camo on it.

I feel lots better about my pukey green and yellow quilt. Now, if the material would just come in the mail, I could get it done!

I am excited about using the flannel, and I think it will be perfect for a baby born up in an area where the winter is just hideous in my opininon!

Darkish gray! Yicksville!!!!! It is only good for tree trunks in a scenic quilt or perhaps with a black and white quilt.

Those colors were popular in the 70's. I didn't care for them then - nor do I care for them today. And like several others today - I look at a lot of fabric out there today and go EW!!!!! "what on earth were they thinking" and yet it sells. Different strokes for different folks. I am sure whatever you end up making will be wonderful!
