I wanted to whip up a Dahlia Pillow for Mothers day....
I used a bunch of fat quarters I had in my stash but thought
I could not get 8 6" squares from a fat quarter sooooo...I cut 5" squares and am ready to go...Does anyone know if this is going to work out right...need to know right away....

have you got your background square pressed to the sections? if so, you can try to place farthest-from-the-center piece in place and fold that piece to test if it takes up the proper space. you may have to place the [7?] colors closer together to make it work. and the dahlia will turn out smaller. good luck

Watch for the spacing in between the sewn layered fabrics - may not meet across the space. I made a dahlia with fat quarters and I was able to cut out 8 6" squares and still had left over fabric. Maybe I got lucky...

I'm thinking you're gonna have to cut your background fabric smaller, too. On the one I started, the last piece of fabric did not meet it's mate the background fabric was too wide or my measuring was off but i did cut six inch squares.
