I have a lot of different upholstery weight beautiful fabrics and I want to know if they can be used to make quilts? I would love to use them somehow to make keepsakes for my nieces and nephews. Has anyone any advice? Thank you!

I use them all the time for bags and in wall quilts; make sure you use the right needles and upholstery thread and you'll be fine.
For bed quilts or lap quilts, you'll also want to use fabrics that are washable. Or you could make a coverlet if you're using it for a bed; those can be aired or "beaten" out.

Along these same lines...I have been given lots of drapery sample books of beautiful fabrics. I have been able to use some for small projects, but wonder how others get rid of the paper strips on the back of samples. I find some very difficult to pull off, even when I have soaked them in water before hand. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
