    I was going to mention this too. That will definitely cause the problem that you're having.

    Also, I agree with Paula. Those older Singers can't be beat. A 301, or anything in the 400 series can be found for cheap, if you look around. They're solid and dependable, not to mention portable. Be careful, do not get one that is newer, because Singer changed a lot in the 60s and those machines are not so great. If you start shopping for one, check in with the Antiques Sewing Machines thread on the QB first. They will give you lots of good, sound advice and may know where you can pick one up.

    Default Simple thing to check!

    This happened to me earlier - that's how I found this thread, and it turned to to be super simple. I have a Singer Model 750 that has a bobbin winding knob. It's really easy to forget to adjust that knob after winding a bobbin, and if you don't this will happen to your machine. Before you take it to the shop or try to change the timing, check if your knob got knocked out of place!
