i would be concerned with the ink against my fabric...but if you put something against the ink...why not!
I live across the street from a poling place, so I see lots of these sticking out of the garbage cans.
We have used the signs for garage sales...and also for a wedding reception...attached the cardboard wedding sign over the candidate info and it was much more stable. It was just to point people in the right direction for the reception.

Haven't used them for folding fabric but I have used them to make a design wall.
I also used them the line the inside of my chicken coop, lol. Hey, they are corrigated, run some waterproof glue on them and it traps in the air that keeps the coop warm. lol.
