Sharon Schamber suggests using one. I forgot to put freezer paper on the back of the top before starting. Will putting freezer paper on the back now, heat set the pencil lead to the quilt top?

Have you done a test on a scrap of fabric to see if the pencil lead comes off easily?? I don't trust anything except for when I see the test result. STILL can't get the blue clover chalk off a quilt I made. TEST IT FIRST always !!!

I've had trouble getting graphite pencil marks off fabric even when no heat was involved. Sharon Schamber can do as she pleases, but I won't ever use pencil on fabric again unless I want it to be there forever.

Tone down your blue powder with white powder, then vacuum and pre-soke then wash.

I use them all the time with no trouble. Just make sure you do it very lightly.

I don't use the bic brand but do use a regular mechanical pencil for marking quilting lines on my quilts. Have never had an issue with them washing out.

I use a regular mechanical pencil. Usually in the colors DS won't use like pink or purple. I never mark on the front so I don't have a problem with them staying there.
