Default Using Fleece and Cotton Fabric in a Quilt

I want to make my GS a quilt with University of Louisville and St. Louis Cardinals. I can find the Louisville fabric in cotton. The Cardinals fabric is only fleece. Would that be too much of a difference in weight? I've done flannel and cotton but never fleece.

Had you thought about using the cotton on the front and the fleece on the back?
I make lots of mine that way. My family loves the feel of the fleece as backing. Most times I don't add batting since that would make it too much for our part of Texas.
