I have a friend who swears by liquid stitch, she sews the first side down and liquid stitch on the back, never, stitches, she does beautiful bindings, washes and all..... I kid her all the time that I am sure I would have a mess EVERYWHERE, think I'll stick with machine and hand sewing, no pins.

I have diluted Elmers School glue and used it for a very stiff starch. It works as fabric protector from dust and dirt.

i use elmers school glue, liquid. it works great..

you can get tiny tips or use the tips from a mechanical pencil. if you want a finer line. i do a section at a time, and press with the iron. it holds it until i am ready to sew it on, either by hand or machine. you only need a little. it really makes my corners look great!

I buy steam a seam or heat n bond narrow tape. After sewing the binding on the front and before turning it to the back I put it on not quite to the edge, turn and press it down. It holds very well and you can hand sew without worrying about pins and puckers. Also can be perminate enough for wall hangings that will not get a lot of washings.
