I like your quilt! It doesn't look that bright on my screen but computer images can be deceiving.

I usually go directly to my stash which is large and not getting smaller much faster lol. I buy go-withs as needed. And allow myself to buy fabrics I'm attracted to at Quilt Festival every year.

I shop my stash first. The funny thing is that I always have to buy something to go with what I already have.

I shop my stash for focus and anything that will go with it. Then I'll shop LQS as needed.

When I need to use a specific theme (like the music quilt) and I have not one scrap of that type, then I shop for the quilt. Most of the time I find a pattern I like and then find the stash to use. On occasion I will have stash and go looking for a pattern to showcase that print. Most of the time I end up not having enough of a fabric which leads me down the rabbit hole to new design opportunities.

My quilts are a combination of what I have and what I need to go with it....which is usually the backing.

I have to use my stash! I'm the "lone ranger" in my family. None of my Grandmothers, Mom, Aunts, sister quilted and none of my DIL's do. So I have to use it up!

In a sense, everything I have in my stash is a UFO, so I'm really finally getting to a quilt idea that I had a long time ago (assuming I can remember the original plan).
This also means that when I make something from my stash I am finishing a UFO!

Just recently I had noticed I seem to have a large amount of brown fabrics in my stash and seldom use it. So I posted a game on my facebook page wherein whoever guessed what color fabric I had the most of first, I would make them a quilt using that color fabric from my stash. The person who guessed brown was delighted to be getting a free quilt and I am delighted to be using up some of that brown fabric.
I am making a scrappy brown churn dash quilt for them.
