I am making a memory quilt for a close friend from her daughter's out grown clothing. She has included several sweaters and am unsure what I need to do (if anything) to them before I cut into them. I try to use as much of the article of clothing as possible as most of it is from when she was a baby and toddler . Any and all ideas will be greatly welcome as I am unsure of what to do with these beautiful sweaters and don't want to ruin them when I cut them.

    Thanks to all !!!

do the same that you do with T-shirts and fuse some iron on interfacing to the back, cut to size and stitch in. The seams will be a little bulkier than regular fabric but still workable. if the quilt is to be washed, I'd make sure that the sweater has been washed as well to make sure to deal with the shrinkage ahead of time.
