Looked like the edges og the strips were stretched by the vacuum. I don't think I would do that.

I bet she's vaccuming them to get all the lint/tiny pieces of thread that go all over when you unravel them . It is from when they die cut them.. I hate that part of jellyrolls. Makes a MESS. I take them outside and shake them.

Hi everyone. That is my blog post she initially linked to. I vacuum my strips on each end of the roll when it is still tied up. I do it carefully. I don't really do it with the strips all laid out like that, I just forgot to take a picture for my blog post when I did this!

I do it because I have brother and she has problems with lint. Like another commenter said, she has had hers in and out of the shop. I LOVE my machine, but I have a hard time using precuts because of the really fine lint and dust that the pinked edges creates!

Not me...I'd use a lint roller for that!

It would take a lot of sheets on the lint roller.

You could use the vacuum attachments made for computers.

A voice of reason. In the photo she is using an attachment.
Thankfully neither of my Janomes that I sew with are that particular. Guess if your machine was super sensitive. Anyway the blocks look good and the quilt looked fine too. I guess we all do what we have to. Happy Quilting girls.

My old vintage will take about anything I can throw at it......I must admit if I had a newer, expensive machine I'd probably vacuum too. I have made a few rag quilts, and nothing gets the lint off better than my Dyson

Totally agree with you. I also clean my bobbin case fairly frequently...like every
two bobbins if I'm piecing and every bobbin if I'm quilting. It only takes a few
minutes and keeps my machine running smoothly.
