I like King Tut variegated thread and love it. And it seams to last forever.

    That was my question too.

This may seem like a silly question, but why would you want to use varigated thread and when would you use it?

    It is really pretty!
wonderful on a quilt with a meandering or feathers or well just about anything!
It really makes the quilting noticable- makes it POP!

i agree with all of the above. aurifil, yli, king tut, etc. my least favorite is coats and clark. the star verigated, really like the colors, but you better keep the brushes or vac near by-the lint is ridiculous!

Depends on whether you want the quilting to show more or less. I use Sulky Blendables 40 wt. or King Tut from Superior threads if I want the stitches to show more. Aurifil 50 wt.varigated if I want the stitches to bury a bit more.

I love King Tut......sometimes the colors look ugly on the spool but when you quilt with them they show their true colors. I had bought Nefertiti and it didn't look that great but when I used it, it was just what I wanted for the quilt top! Don't let the colors fool you.

I love variegated thread but why on earth would you use it for SID when the stitching isn't even going to show?

I just finished a quilt using variegated thread by Guterman. I liked the thread fine and there was a ton of it on the spool. But variegated wasn't a good choice for that quilt 'cause it just didn't show...or the lighted part of the thread ended up on the darkest part of the quilt so the quilting sort of jumps out at you on that part. I also like Superior and Aurifil and King Tut.
