varigated thread

I bought some at a local shop today-$9.50 a spool. and I can't find the brand they carry (wonderfil brand) very many places, online or off. I think I may switch brands but I hate buying online to save a couple bucks only to pay it back and more in shipping. But the local shop has very few colors to choose from and haven't gotten new ones in a long time (like a year).

The King Tut at my LQS is $13./spool - I like it but it is pricey so thought I woud try a few others.

Purplefiend - Is there any difference between these brands? Is one stronger, better to sew with or does one leave more lint in the bobbin chamber?

The Valdani comes in 35wt. and 50 wt. King Tut is a 40wt. thread that is nearly lint free,Robison-Anton that I use is 50wt. YLI (40wt.)is just wonderful stuff , not real linty either; and Aurifil is nearly lint free too. It depends on the quilt as to what thread I use, they all do beautifully in a home sewing machine. Some of them work better with a long arm quilter machine. I experimented with the different brands/weights to see what I liked and worked best for me. When I'm machine quilting I use a 90/14 or 100/16 top stitch or denim needle, machine quilting needles if I can find them.
