Very Disappointed in what I saw at a Quilt Show
#23
I've never been to a quilt show that didn't hand out gloves to people coming in...they also have signage everywhere telling people not to touch without gloves. Quilts in the rain is beyond belief....what a strange quiltshow that was.
I noticed you live in Oregon where there is a mecca of quilters all over there...this is just not understandable to me whatsoever.

I love the Black Beauty too. It is gorgeous! I can't believe that those people would treat the quilts the way you describe. They ought to know better. I wouldn't have been able to keep my mouth shut either.

Sounds absolutely horrifying. Even though I'm a beginning quilter and my quilts are far, far from show quality, the thought of mildew on my quilts makes me shiver. So glad you spoke up to the "picker" as that is just so wrong!!

I pretty sure most of the quilt makers were at the show. If they didn't throw a fit then no problem. The woman picking at the stitches, now that was deliberate destruction and I would have stopped her too.

I am a beginner-quilter & appreciate all the work that went into making a quilt. Please see this video about Rose, a blind quilter, if you have not already. She learned to quilt AFTER she became blind! Here is the link if you want to see it: http://www.theamazingquilter.com/

The people in chage of the show should be ashamed of how they allowed visitors to touch and handle the quilts and what were they thinking to just leave them out in the rain.
You were right to say something to the lady who you saw abusing the quilts on display. Some people just don't know how to behave out in public.
