I disagree. Trying to determine the pattern in a low contrast quilt gives me the heeby jeebys for lack of a better description.

Not really. I HAVE noticed that the ones that don't have much contrast are usually a "collection" where they all go together, but don't look so nice all in the same quilt for just the reason you mentioned.

I like contrast. The design seems to get lost in low contrast and it all blends together.

I do like the soft all pastel florals - am thinking of starting one for myself but will maybe put a little white or cream in there somewhere to give it just a little contrast but keep it soft and soothing looking. Don't even have a pattern thought yet - but hoping to get inspired soon. Any suggestions?

This is basically how I feel too. I have seen several OBW that look like they are just one big piece of fabric that has been quilted. Very pretty but if I am going to do all that piecing, I want to be able to see it.

I love the soft shabby chic floral pastels. Low contrast designs made from these always look so comfy and restful...I just want to cuddle up with them.

I like high contrast and bright colors in a wall hanging, but prefer low contrast on a bed.

I prefer higher contrast but have been collecting some creams and neutrals to make a low-contrast quilt just to experiment...thought it might be a calming look. We'll see.
