Hm, there was an odd Microsoft Email that came through a couple days ago. I didn't open it, but deleted it right away. The one reason I was suspicious as it had a period at the end of the name on the email.

I figured that was a virus, looking like something official. Not sure if anyone else got that or not.

I got something and it might have been from here. Computer kept getting slower and slower and then earlier this week I couldn't click on anything on this site.
Computer crashed yesterday and I spent the better part of 8 hrs. (off and on) with tech support.
I'm back up and running but I lost everything that I had stored in my email.......pics of grandkids, recipes and quilt patterns and sites.

I do not even get ads from this message board. It's because I have installed software that blocks ads as well as protects my computer. IE: Anti-virus Suites, Firewalls Suites, etc. They help to block everything that is malicious. And even just ads from popping up on your pages, depending on your settings.

I have Norton ( had to pay for it), but it picks up everything, and notifies you if the website is not safe or if something is attacking your computer. I have the free AGV on our other computer and it is good too, but doesn't do half as much (I think) as Norton.

Please just be careful when you Google for help. Some of those sites are actually site-hackers: take over your machine and ask for money to remove your problem and give it back to you.

If you don't get rid of it it can really mess your computer up. Good advice from all re: antivirus software, but this trojan got past mine and finally showed up on a later scan. Keep your software definitions updated and scan if you even suspect your protection has been breached.

I love this Board and it is a shame this is happening. For a while I will be shutting down my computer at the first roll-over or pop-up and run a scan. And I will try to identify the ad(s) that is causing this and report it to Administration per their instructions.

DoJo, had to laugh at your post because you are so right about learning new things. I've only been quilting a few years and just took up photography. I have to dump stuff out of my brain to make room for the new stuff so cooking and cleaning have been pretty much eliminated from my brain files, too!!
