I had a designer I and upgraded to a diamond a couple years ago. I love it! The size of embroidery you can do is wonderful and the extra harp space is also great. If you do embroidery, the ease of using a USB device vs. the proprietarily formatted floppies is phenomenal. The feet and bobbins are interchangeable. I said I upgraded, but since I wasn't going to get much of a trade in for my designer, I kept it too. I can embroider on the Diamond while I piece on the Designer. I have the original diamond, not the diamond deluxe. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I would need to test drive it first and see if this machine is a fit for you needs. Good Luck !!

Love, Love mine. I upgraded from the Ruby to the Diamond Deluxe. It is great, so many things make it easy to use. If you have a dealer around you I'd test drive it plus you can take classes and learn more of the features that yours don't have. Like design positioning, auto tension, I've never had to adjust my tension. So many more things. Its great
