Viking mega quilter issues

If you have a manual, look at page 35 for troubleshooting tips. If you don't have a manual, see the last page of this pdf. It's for the Janome 1600P but is identical - the Megaquilter 9" is a re-branded Janome 1600P.

When I bought mine, the 9" it was recommened by Viking and the store to use Aurifil thread, I've never had any problems with it. Plus it does need oiling alot. If the threading is right on bobbin and upper, I'd think about the thread and needle. Have you tried just straight stitching and see if the thread is breaking. Maybe if you are FMQ you are pulling too hard on fabric

I don't have any advice to you, but just for your information, this seems to be a common problem with the 9" machine. I bought one, new, when they first came out and had nothing but problems with it, took it back and got my money back. I wish I had the frame though.

Wow -I sew with all kinds of different threads on my Mega quilter 9" with no problems. Hmmm, did you check to make sure you don't have any lint or anything else stuck in the tension disks, that the thread isn't double-wrapped somehow around the thing that has three holes in it, that it's threaded correctly, the bobbin is in correctly, and all that?
Might be time for a trip to the service department.
