When I am looking for vintage fabric (besides feedsacks) I consider anything that is 32 inches to 36 or 39 inches vintage... with many of those coming from the thirties and forties and into the 50's. Then in the late 1950's the widths started to change to 40 to 42 inches. But... I still consider fabrics from the 60's and 70's vintage also! Or should I say retro? I love them all and snatch them up when I see them!

I like to sew with vintage if I find some that I like. I like a lot of the crazy colorful stuff from the 70's and the little floral prints from the early 80's. But mostly what I come across isn't any good for quilting, it's more apparel fabric (polyester, anyone?).
Using this theory I have no vintage fabric but I'm vintage. Tee Hee     But I'm not antique yet.

I've inherited a bunch of 30's star blocks and fabric. I've developed quite a liking for it.

DH and I went to a flea market and I got a bag full of antique feedsack for a 1.00. I don't have any other vintage fabric yet...but I am looking. I have several old quilts..they are so soft.
Littlehud, my nephew calls me "antique" instead of Aunt Janet...brat..LOL. I don't mind, he is such a cutie.

I have used a few peices of it in a lap quilt. I hate to cut it.

I have fabric that my great grandmother bought when she went to hong kong and japan. I get it out, look at it and panic - back in the cupboard until I get braver
