A couple of weeks back I bought a similar one at a yard sale. Several people mentioned that it was a Blackside. Mine is a 128 but I wonder what the difference is between a 128 and a 128-23? According to the serial number mine was made in 1951 but it does not have the centennial seal. I did not get a manual with mine and the box lid is missing the lock mechanism but otherwise in good shape. Have not tried to just the shuttle bobbin yet but will eventually. Enjoy your new machine.

I have Singer in a round wooden cover that my father in law got when he wanted to learn to sew, (makes me smile to remember that!) Only thing is, I don't have the key to open it and see the machine! Any Ideas??
I got excited seeing your post, Verna! Thanks!

Cool! I'll try that right now! Thanks.
I recently got a treadle sewing machine that didn't have a key. It came with a small screwdriver that I took and put into the key slot and very gently turned it. It will unlock or lock the drawers. Maybe you could try this with a small screwdriver. It seems that those old locks could be picked pretty easily. :XD:

I got it open!!!! It's a 128-23 like Verna's but not a centennial. It's got an all gold seal. How do you find out the year? The serial # is AH 616099. I'll try to figure out how to take a pic...
