Virtual Quilting Weekend--12/20-12/24
#31
It’s supposed to rain cats and dogs here today... so it will be a great day for sewing! (I guess it beats a snow storm but it doesn’t look like we’re in for a white Christmas) I am working on the last 25 alternate blocks for the Riley Blake Meet the Makers quilt I started a couple of months ago. The sample done in the video was in solids but I am using batiks that have needed a good home.

After preschool holiday program this morning, Grandma will be machine quilting name banners for 5 little girls, 2 of mine 3 of a friend's. The ones I did for mine turned out so cute, I thought I was on a roll and might just as well keep on going. I made a lot of binding yesterday and got four out of five sandwiched, one quilted.

I can’t this weekend. My late sister’s son will be joining us for Christmas. He is like a third son for me so I am simply as excited as a child waiting for Christmas morning. As with all of us, I am so grateful for my family. Merry Christmas and next time I will be ready to join in the fun.
Christine, I adore that quilt. Next year for sure! Omg the bucket grows and grows...like the Energizer Bunny!

I'm in for this weekend - don't have to be back to work until Wednesday and other than a party tonight, no other outings planned.
Battleaxe - that ornament quilt is really nice! I tried hard to use up a lot of my christmas fabric stash this season and now have several floppies to quilt before next Christmas.

I did get the Pig Pen quilt put together yesterday, didn't have quite enough room for the final border of pink so is ending with the sashing. Unfortunately, hubby took the camera with him to work -- but maybe that will motivate me to sandwich it together and quilt it down today. What I have in mind should be fast and easy and I'd like to bring the top to Tuesday small group to sew on the binding. I really am slow at handwork and it is not fun for me, it's a lot better to do at group.
I'll have to watch the tutorial on the BSR (Bernina Stitch Regulator) and put together a sandwich to try free motion quilting. I have no desire to do queen sized quilts that way, but I'd like to be able to do the small donation quilts. And who knows, maybe I'll like it even! The 820 has a 12" deep throat and has the bed extension so maybe even twin quilts will be possible. One thing I love about the new machine is that it is a self threader, I have vision issues and that's a huge help, it's one of the reasons my friend wanted to gift me so generously with this machine. The other thing is it has a huge bobbin, holds a ton of thread which will be nice in the quilting.

Sounds like everyone is busy, busy, busy! I managed to get the binding attached to On Ringo Lake and started sewing it down by hand last night. And this morning I have cut all the pieces needed for Good Fortune, so I am doing pretty good!
I would join a VQW for New Year's Heather!
