Virtual Quilting Weekend--5/27 - 5/30
#101
I doubt I'll get much sewing time tomorrow, because I have to work (not a holiday in Canada this week), run some errands, and quilt guild is in the evening. But I made some good progress today. Finished the shop sample I was working on in yellow & white - now I can take it to work tomorrow to see if she wants a border on it, and what we'll use for backing.
And, I made some progress on my Plus quilt. I started this without a clear plan - just a bin of 2.5" strips and a hope that I could do this without repeating any fabric. Almost made it! I think there are a couple of repeats in the last section, because I ran out of orange/yellow fabrics and needed to brighten it up a bit. But there are 816 2.5" squares in this top, all out of my scrap bin (and hardly a dent made there, which is somehow contrary to the fact that I didn't have the colours I wanted).

Wow! Beautiful projects popping up all over the place! Thanks for sharing!
I cut binding strips yesterday for one of my UFOs before I went to a wedding. Today my errands took longer than anticipated and I was exhausted when I got home so no sewing today.
I stopped at Hancock Fabrics to check on Accuquilt dies and ended up buying the 5" square for my Go! plus 53 yards of fabric!
Now I need to find time to spend in my sewing room. Thankfully, I only have 3 1/2 days of substitute teaching on my calendar for the remaining two weeks of school so I should get some quality sewing time soon.

Love the yellow and white top, Krista. So much movement!
Your plus quilt is looking great too. Thanks for sharing photos.
I didn't get much (any?) sewing done today. I DID get my first 10 (of 20) embroidery blocks marked for my quilt. Once I do all that embroidery I'll go back and mark the other 10 blocks. I bought a light table yesterday and it makes tracing the pattern onto fabric so much easier than my previous method, which was kneeling over a glass coffee table with a lamp laid under it!
I also cut a gazillion 5" squares today. Didn't mean to spend the day cutting, but it had to be done. Now I can play. I have so many projects laid out on my big dining room table (now the sewing table). I'm working through them, little by little.
Love seeing the day's creations from you all.

This thread is so inspiring; I love all the beautiful work! I finished sewing the binding today so my Watermelon Picnic quilt is finished! I started this quilt almost 2 years ago but then illness and life got in the way and I did almost no quilting. But I was invited to go on a retreat in February and since I had just finished a 2 month medical leave, I went as sort of a celebration of feeling better. I am so glad I did as it rekindled my love for quilting. Have been working on this quilt- the handquilting took a long time!- ever since. Here is the finished quilt, and since I'm a bit of a geek, a Pic Collage of the pictures I took along the way! Now after a quick clean up in the sewing room, I'll work on some more Sister's Choice blocks for a red and aqua quilt I started while taking a break from handquilting.
