Virtual Quilting Weekend--8/9/-8/11/24
#21
I’m in. I hate posting this because something usually happens to interfere with my plans. I have already straightened up my sewing room this morning and am ready to start. The picture below will be 42 blocks for 2 QOV. I have 3 QOV done already except for binding.

I got my blocks made and am taking a break to eat. It is so pleasant sitting on the deck right now. There is a nice breeze and low humidity. It may take me a good push to go back inside. Next step is cutting sashing and putting top together.

One thing I really need to complete are the two pillows for my first grand baby. He's really into baseball and that's him running the bases.
Above blocks left to right, 2 gowns from the stripes, burgundy is a lining for a bag for an outfit I made for my other grand baby. The green is for the backs of the pillows and edging around the front.
I'd like to get this spray basted. It's the Merry Meyhem New Years from this year. Well it's not very like it now. All the applique and a bunch of the actual blocks were changed.
Then after all that I'm sure to take to my bed with these lovelies.
2.5" charms from the Birthday swap on WWQB. Not sure where I'm going with these hexi's but bee's are involved as well as some paper piecing and I know not what. I'm allowing this one to grow while I'm not looking.

Oh, now I feel like a slacker. Everyone here has such wonderful projects going. As for me, I'm going to be making kitty crate pads for cats, kittens rescued from wild fires, tornado's and floods across the nation. The finished size they ask for is12"x18" and I have a ton of fabric that size. Fabric needs to be prewashed cotton with a dacron batting and if machine quilted tiny stitches are required so that claws won't get stuck in the threads. No tieing of these mats as cats may chew off those ties and get sick! I have 2 of the mats made already and another 2 ready to go under the needle, along with a pile of 18 of the batting cut out and I'm going for leftover jelly roll strips this morning. It will be a mindless sewing day for me....gotta love that!

I love the term "palate cleanser". That is what I am doing after finishing massive pink quilt. I quilted some pot holders and will get to binding them today. I have never worked with flannel, but I bought some at JA to make burp cloths for an expecting cousin. I think I will brave them today also.

I cut the binding for the five QOV, sewed 2 together and put one a quilt. Also, finished the centers for the 42 blocks.
Thimblebug6000– great scrappy quilt, admire you for hand quilting.
Nesie – can’t wait to see the Halloween quilt.
