Virtual Quilting Weekend -- April 14-16, 2017
#61
I finished up the quilting on the second set of Cross quilts - now on to the third.
Also made cranberry sauce for later, and will make wild rice stuffing. We cooked a turkey breast on Friday, and have half of it left. So not a lot of cooking today, but plenty of eating LOL!!

Nice progress everyone!
I was sorting through donated fabrics and decided I needed a short break. Look who decided to occupy my chair- Chowder! It was nice he was keeping it warm! Lol!
It's soon time to sit down and relax or nap since it was an early morning with my family at 6 am church.

zozee, watch the stitch very carefully and see where each stitch goes. I can't explain it very well but when the stitch is in the corner, pivot to the next side. It takes some practice but once you understand where each stitch lands, it makes it easier to understand. I hope this explanation helps some and didn't confuse you more!
Need some help: how do you turn a corner using the decorative serpentine stitch? I wasn't happy with how the first corner turned out, so for the other 3 what I did was stitch almost to the corner, stopped, cut the thread, turned the quilt, then skipped a smidge down the next side.
I use a Janome 8200. I haven't found how to do this from a google search.

I'm taking a quilting break to get dinner ready. THe dressing is in the oven and DH is going to cook the asparagus. Then I'll go finish up the quilts on the frame (have 3 more passes to complete) and then I'm going to play with my new sashiko machine.
I picked up some red satiny fabric with dragons embroidered on it at a yard sale several years ago (like $2 for the piece) and figure that would be a good thing to do the sashiko on.

Nice to see how busy everyone is I finished my Bonnie Hunter MQ top last night but was too tired to iron it. I haven't had the chance yet today to sew, (except last minute repairs on an Easter dress!) After dinner and a family walk I hope I can squeeze in at least a seam or two.
Happy Easter, everyone!

I finished binding two projects this weekend. The first one is a scrappy string quilt and the other is a small butterfly wallhanging. The virtual weekend got me inspired to get these done. I'm enjoying everyone's progress on their projects.

I was excited to be able to do some sewing during this Virtual Quilting Weekend, as I usually miss them, but then I wasn't able to work on anything till today. Thankfully I got something done! I've been working on an ocean/ nautical quilt for myself to match my bedroom. And today I got the top all sewn up. I'm in love! Now to work on the back.
