    Default Virtual Quilting Weekend--July 1 - July 4, 2016

Welcome! It's time for another Virtual Quilting Weekend I hope you can join us as we share what we're working on this weekend and encourage each other over. Don't be surprised if you pick up a few ideas for future projects when you see what others are quilting. And for those who are cleaning/organizing their rooms (or shopping those sales this weekend!) yes that counts too! Don't forget to share pictures of your progress.

This weekend I will be working on blocks for various BOMs I'm in. I would like to catch up!

Next VQW will be August 5-7.

Happy Canada Day and Happy Fourth of July!

I have cut the strips and now I am sewing a black set strip to a white set strip, then sewing them together and finally cutting out the blocks using the Cozy Quilt Tube triangle ruler. Here is the pattern I am using:

I did not know what the cut tube ruler was. Here is a you tube:

I hope to make great inroads in my second Maaike Bakker's Optical Illusion. The first (for DD and SIL) ended up being too big for their bed and I refused to cut it down. I just narrowed all the strips by 1/4 inch to get the size I need, while preserving the look of the original. I love this pattern because it goes together so well.

It is very dull and much cooler here this morning. Come on rain!! We need it desperately!

I am working on a quilt with half seams. I hope to finish it this weekend. The 7nth I take my first Long Arm lesson at a LQS. Getting excited. Need to get my backing ready for that too. Busy weekend.

I'm doing a modern quilt that has variations on 4 patch and disappearing 4 patch blocks and rectangles floating on a solid background. Figuring out how to do the solids now since I'm setting the rectangles at an angle off the corners of the center disappearing 4 patch.

Thanks for the info on tube quilting and the tube ruler--looks like a lot of fun.

Woohoo, long weekend and lots of quilting! Hopefully I can get organized/motivated to get back into my sewing room this weekend. I've been overloaded with customer quilts, and been a bit (a lot) absent from my own quilting and blogging for a couple of months. Not sure what I'm going to work on. One customer quilt to finish up first.

I'm joining in and will be adding borders to a baby quilt for starters.

I'm joining in today to finish my AR Crossroad king size quilt. Just need to sew together the 20 extra blocks (already maid), and borders. I can sew most of today and then I work the weekend. I'm off on Monday - Wednesday and will continue my sewing then. I need to package 4 BD candy squares to mail out today. Then I need to make a 12 1/2' block for a swap. I will show pics when I get these done. If I have time, I plan to start my 2 1/2" log cabin. My summertime challenge project. The directions are on the tutor section on the Board here. It's a great way to use up some of my 2 1/2" candy squares. And If I really have time I plan to set up a quilt on my quilting machine.

Off to get some of my projects done. Happy sewing everyone.
