Well hello VQW'ers, I'm reading a lot of good things going on this weekend and enjoying the pix. Though, they seem few they are encouraging. Just speaking for myself, I think everything quilting is great and I love these VQW's. But, unfortunately this one I couldn't be active in. Too busy chasing fabric for those 20 yo project. Been trying to get those things 'out da door' for about a month now. And then one that I started to finally set together and thought I was out of the original fabric and set substitute fabric in the project. I had the top completed and applying a piano-key boarder to it and then I find some more of the original fabric. So heart-breaking, so it was suggested that I apply my finds to the back. Now, my head is running rapid with ideas for it. Hopefully by next VQW I can show pix of one of those projects.

Happy sewing everyone and looking forward to the next time----Cherryb

I finished machine quilting one Quilt of Valor and have loaded the second one on the frame. I was also able to finish sewing the rows and blocks together on a fusion quilt. Now, I just have to bury the threads and then crochet all around it (probably finish up tomorrow). If I can, I'll try to post some pictures later this evening (want to try to finish up the other Quilt of Valor).

The Farmer's Market was a bust. Bad for canning but great for quilting. I have made some decent progress on the Double Irish Chain on the frame in the other room. The plan is to go back to that later today if I can. I am making great progress on the small quilt that I started the other day. I am trying some new techniques on it and so far so good. It is time to change the needle in my sewing machine as it is obviously becoming quite dull! Yuck! I am doing this one as a quilt as you go quilt. So right now I am working on the 20 strip blocks I did Fri and Saturday. I hope to have it ready for the next boarder shortly. I am working on some FMQ right now with a design I like. I feel like I have accomplished a great deal this weekend.

Don't have Paint, I'm sort of anti-Microsoft. I use Open Office for my document and spreadsheet needs. This computer has never had Java installed and that causes me weird problems here and there with some programs.

All I have to do is drag my picture from my camera to that website, click the reduce button and since I already selected the "always do this" option, it saves the file to my Downloads. Once in downloads I can pop them in here, and then later I clean up my downloads folder and save them into my quilting subdirectory. Unfortunately for me, there are some pictures in the subdirectory that have not been reduced yet, need to work on that.

The problem posting here is not the "physical" size of the picture, that doesn't really exist. The problem is the file size and the amount of file size we are allowed here is rather small, it has to be below 2mb.

For those still having problems, sometimes it is the simple stuff that trips us -- in order to post pictures first you click on the "go advanced" tab below the chat box.

I hope you've had a more productive Sunday than I have. After lunch, I just vegged out and watched a couple episodes of Best Baker in America. Now it's time for the Yankees/Red Sox game. But back to my sewing room tomorrow. See you all next month!

Loved having my grand doggy visit over the weekend...but...I leave the door open and she trips in and out...so had to wash the kitchen and hallway before I got back into my sewing room. When we were on vacation in Penticton, BC we visited Poppin's Quilt Parlour.. (we were on our bicycles) .... and about 2 minutes after entering, the power on the whole street went out... so I bought the 9th Row kit for the Row by Row.... when I got home, I decided I would make it into placemats.... way more hours than I imagined...but hey! I finished one tonight... and have the other 3 ready to stitch... Off we go for our dinner out..... Thanks again for the fun!

I didn't officially sign up for this VQW, but I did a set a goal for myself this weekend and met it, actually ended up doing more! My goals were to put together my Eleanor Burns farm quilt and baste it, using Elmers washable school glue for the first time. I did both goals without any hiccups. Today I was able to start quilting. Yippy!

It's been Hot!!! here. So I avoid using the iron from 2-7pm & turn the thermastat to 80 to use less energy during peak usage hours. But that's when I quilt the most. What do you do to press seams, set binding, etc. without using an iron?

I've gotten 2 more quilts quilted and binding onto one side. Still need to sew down the other side and apply labels.

I've decided DH and I will have a date night each weekend. Since he chose last week, I chose this week...my favorite. We really don't like the same type of cooking, so he goes along with me and I go along on his. Then tonight we went with BBQ'd Tri Tip to DD and SIL. She made some salad. Good conversations and played some board games. Nice evening.

Now getting ready for Monday morning. Hopefully, those quilts will get finished tomorrow and have batting for 2 more.
