Virtual Quilting Weekend--Nov 6-8, 2020
#11
Yay, I finally get to participate . It has been such a long stretch of not being able to do much sewing. I need to design an applique quilt for my grandson in California who is turning one on Monday the 9th. I have not seen him since he was born because of Covid. I made his sister’s quilt in time for my DIL’s baby shower but poor Kayden hasn’t gotten his yet. My DIL requested airplanes, helicopters and such...this should be fun. : /
I am thinking of looking for a coloring book that might have a lot of these types of pictures then have them enlarged at the Office Supply place near me...unless others have suggestions?
I am also going to start a Christmas tree skirt for my youngest son and DIL as it will be their for first Christmas in the new home they purchased in June.
Oh gosh Quiltingshortimer, I pray your son gets well quickly and that it isn’t anything serious.
Rob, good luck on car shopping.

I'm in.Working on the Ansel Camera Bag by Sew Sweetness. Also working on a Christmas table runner from the book Peppermint Lane. (I'm adapting it, it's actually part of a larger quilt. I've sandwiched a few practice machine quilting pieces if I get to that. Then it's making a sweep of my Sewing Room and doing a little bit of reorganizing. The weather is so uncharacteristically warm and beautiful for November here in PA that I would like to get outside for a bit also.

jmoore, coloring books are great and the Dollar Store often has ones that can be turned into applique shapes.
But the internet is full of coloring pages too! If you just do a search on "helicopter coloring pages" you get many results, as you do with "free cartoon helicopter". Or even "free airplane coloring book".
I'm doing a bit of clean up/put away and have the box with the UFO out, so I am making progress!

I've made a list to hang on the wall and it is daunting.
For this weekend, the weather is supposed to be way above seasonal temps so I may spend a bunch of it outdoors, but when I am indoors, I'll be quilting my Quartered Stripes quilt, hemming curtains (yawn) starting to work on a pouch, chicken pin cushion and coasters for my Secret Santa gift and maybe even get some quilting done on my big quilt.

So many projects planned! For me, I've been sewing a lot this week because my son's family is in quarantine. DIL tested positive but so far she is the only one with symptoms. As a result, we have been staying more isolated than usual just in case. So far I am feeling well.
I did the quilting on a donation quilt and am nearly finished binding it. Yesterday I spray basted a Christmas throw that is one of my oldest UFOs and hope to quilt it this weekend. And I have started making blocks for Dear Jane and will likely do a couple of those as well.

Wow! It’s amazing how much You can get done if you get out of bed at 2am instead of laying there trying to go back to sleep. I got my quilting studio all straightened up so I can play with the UFO panel later today after we test drive some cars. I also got a lot of work done on organizing my quilting notebook and printing out pictures of my quilts now that I have a good printer. I still have at least 20 pics that need to be printed out, but at least I’ve now got the photos organized on my computer so they are easy to find! I think I’m going to have to get up at 2am more often .
Oh, and yes, Raggiemom, I would love to have a New Year’s day VQW!!!

I'm in!
I'm not entirely sure what I'll be working on yet, but I have the choice of the latest Penguin BOM block (currently not started - in fact not even printed out as I'm the opposite of Rob and have a printer that is playing up!), paper template stripping on my Stars Sampler, and/or embellishments on my stacked pumpkins wallhanging.
I'm also gradually working on sorting out my 'quilting cupboard' so should probably do some of that too
And I'm another vote for a NY VQW!

For sure I will be quilting as I am participating in a "virtual" quilt retreat this weekend. I have Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Trips cut and ready to sew. Will check in again later, and thanks for hosting.
