I got off to an early start this morning, well rested and ready to quilt. I am remaking the baby quilt that I need to have done before Christmas. I have 7 blocks cut and squared up so far. I need a total of 192 HSt'S. So today I am doing this part. I hope to get all the blocks sewn together by tomorrow afternoon. If I manage that I will get it sandwiched and basted. I do have to make a trip out to JAF to get another piece of flannel for the back. I just hope they still have a piece of what I need. Since I am taking a break right now I should get dressed and run that errand.

I finished up my set of 25 blocks - have a total of 77 done so that leaves 23 left!

I've already got the muslin marked with placement lines so after I break I'll start the last set. Here is the muslin backing and the fabric I'm using, along with some of the trims that are on spools. I love the trim spool holder DH made me.

And the other trims that I'm using. Lace, ribbon, rickrack, applique, eyelet - lots of vintage along with new stuff.

I have been working on this since early 2016 so it's nice to be getting it done. Mostly because I've had to keep so much allocated for this project and when it's done it can all be freed up for other projects.

Very nice Macybaby! In the quilts I am making for myself, I originally had a very similar concept for January. It is so fun to see my mental images in real life

I changed the plan for that one, am now going to be making a sampler of 9 large lone stars out of blue and white snowflake fabrics and instead of radiating stars will be making them essentially snowflakes. Fabrics have been selected and prewashed and it is ready to be worked on when I am ready to work on it. Yes, I know the star has 8 sides and snowflakes have 6 but I'm not letting reality set in. Because here in Seattle, January is typically more slushy and the skies are grey instead of white snow and blue skies, I have a slushy grey fabric for half the backgrounds.

Finally ready to start quilting! Lots of interruptions - one really good one. Youngest DGS came and had dinner last night with us and stayed for a couple of hours. This quilt is a 112x100, a big one.

Progress on the cat quilt I started during the last VQW. I wasn't able to work on it in between because I was waiting for a coordinating fabric that has cat faces on it. I've turned some of the faces into portraits and got borders around the panel up to the edge of the portraits. I should be able to get more done tomorrow. I'm looking forward to getting the quilt top done because I need to be able to ship it to Newfoundland at the beginning of December since it will be a Christmas gift from my brother and his wife to one of their granddaughters (she's 15). The first picture is where I stopped after the last VQW and the other is as of this afternoon.

Everyone has been so busy! I didn't sew much but spent time sorting and organizing in the sewing room. I fixed the handles of a purse that I made last year but had sewn the handles on wrong. And bagged up 50 or so little kits for my guild to make button Christmas trees at our next meeting. maybe tomorrow I will actually get some sewing done!
