Virtual Quilting Weekend - Sept 4 to Sept 7, 2015

Managed to fit in a little stitching between walks and gardening...but DD wasn't impressed with the choice of pattern and fabrics that she had chosen for the placemats. (and neither was I) so I was happy to do a little more satin stitching on the Row by Row that was next in line. (no pic yet) I can't believe that with all my quilting magazines and books I only have one magazine that has a colour picture of placemats... and it's not exciting to DD..... I searched the forum here for placemats and didn't come up with anything that filled the bill either, ugh! Hope everyone had a good day and thanks for the photos....they are so inspiring!

I'm making a string quilt for a friend's baby who is going through chemo for brain cancer .The baby is 8 months old.
Last night I worked on it till wee hours , and resumed this evening. My goal was to sew till I ran out of bobbin thread. I was doing great until I decided a more productive---ahem!cough cough--method with chain piecing. I had sewn about 50 inches before I realized my mistake. Right sides sewn to wrong sides. GRRRR!!) Unsewing it feels like 50 YARDS . I quit while I was behind!

Zozee: I feel your pain! .
I had to unpick a few blocks and HST's tonight and cut several pieces for a block before I found a color combo I liked. Just when things seemed to be going well, my son called. I decided I would just unplug everything and start again in the morning.
I am making progress on my 3 goals for the long weekend-child size quilt top, blocks for a wall hanging, and my red, white, blue quilt top. I also fringed, but didn't tie, 3 fleece blankets for a blanket tying party in November.
I will post pictures tomorrow.

I am hand-sewing the binding on another "OSU" quilt for a friend and hopefully will have it completed by the end of the week. I like this because it is at the side of my chair in the family room and I can be with the hubby and watch all the sports shows with him. Also, I am machine quilting a "Retro Big Star Quilt" when I need to rest my hands for a while. Also, the same friend wants me to make a "Sock Monkey" quilt for her dear grandchild for Christmas and that fabric is on the way. This past week finished pillow shams for the niece and her daughter (great niece) that matched her quilt that we all spent a week on piecing and I finished it up two weeks ago...whew!

I love all the enthusiasm and seeing your many WIPs... Unfortunately, the weather is too nice for me to be indoors this weekend... there will be plenty of snowy days ahead for me to quilt inside. Keep up the good work everyone.
MainiacQuilter... I love the Island pattern you are working on.

Everyone seems to be getting so much done. Well, a good part of the weekend is gone and I haven't buzzed in yet, but I have done a bit of work on the tube blocks I've been doing. Yesterday I trimmed the half flocks and pinned. Today, after church and lunch with DD and DSIL, I hope to get the halves put together. Then it'll be pressing and more trimming of the whole blocks.
